RECYCLING

Recycling is another area in which Standard Textile is significantly reducing its environmental footprint. Materials are recycled and reused throughout the manufacturing process. Waste fibers and fabrics created by selvage trimming, cut and sew, and other manufacturing operations are recycled; yarn cones are returned and reused by spinning operations; and pallets used for yarn cone shipments are returned and reused. Cumulatively, these efforts avoid more than five million pounds of landfill waste each year.

We also have an ongoing commitment to water recycling. At our finishing operations in South Carolina, for example, we collect 14+million gallons of water through a sophisticated reclamation process that we recycle and re-use. This dramatically decreases our plant's demand for natural gas. Additionally, our wastewater treatment facility enables us to recycle more than 1 million gallons of discharge a year that is converted to us as
agricultural fertilizer.

The company also uses recycled corrugate to ship its product. While some textile manufacturers pack their products into smaller boxes or small quantity "inner packs" (which are then placed into a larger box), Standard Textile packages their products into optimally sized cartons with a single case liner, resulting in significantly less corrugate usage than our industry competitors.
